Let’s Debrief Paris Couture Week

Let’s Debrief Paris Couture Week

Another year starting with Couture week and another year of being amazed by the designers because if you truly ask us, Couture week is my personal favourite because this is when the artists are truly themselves, like TRULY free and expressive.

Schiaparelli: Drama

Every time you hear about Schiaparelli, a few constant words that come out of your mouth are structure, surrealism and drama. Since I was 13, for me couture actually only meant Schiaparelli and back then not much brands were doing structure and engineering of clothes like Schiaparelli.

Dior: Precision over Performance

Jonathan has done it again, and Mrs. Riri said it as well - Dior is so back. Of course Dior outdid itself with their clothes but can we take a minute to appreciate the styling of the accessories? Jaw drop. And also what a set design; well thought of and perfectly aligned with the pieces.

Celia Kritharioti: Debutant for the season

Celia Kritharioti’s a debutant from Greece knew she was there for the right reasons and we are hoping to see her next year as well. Her collection "Take a bow" clearly says bows aren't leaving us anytime soon because, bow and couture together just goes perfectly and it needs to stay.

Chanel: Birds of feather:
Blazy's pale pink show set at the Grand Palais, was indeed a delight to the eyes, it was couture but subtle, Chanel made me realize couture as much as it has to be in your face, dramatic, it can also shine by the way its presented, it was just a breath of fresh air vibe of a collection. I am so sure the front row was something no one could miss, with Dua Lipa, ASAP Rocky and Margaret Qualley.

Gaurav Gupta: Fashion as Emotion
Gaurav's show always hits home to me and call me biased - I am fine with that - but what a collection. His latest "Divine Androgyny" talks so much about his tragic journey that he and his wife faced last year. His collections always have a deeper meaning to what his life has been and it shows and that for me is a true artist, who doesn't forget his roots and deals with life situations as a story to tell people from his pieces.

The Bigger Takeaway

Couture may not be shoppable in the traditional sense, but its influence is everywhere — in how brands present themselves, how they tell stories, and how they choose restraint over constant output.

And maybe that’s the most modern thing couture can do right now.
